Born: February 1, 1954 in Englewood, Colorado
Passed Away: February 20, 2025 in Lakewood, Colorado
Leroy “Lee” Vigil of Lakewood, Colorado went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 20, 2025 surrounded by loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Mary Vigil along with Myron and Madolyn Sherman, his loving Father and Mother-in-law. Lee is 1 of 13 siblings that he grew up with in Englewood, Colorado.
Survived by his wife, Janice Vigil of 52 years and their three daughters, Christa Vigil, Shannon Kurz and Kacee Burke, two son in-laws, Troy Kurz and Dan Burke. And three wonderful grandchildren, Evynn Vigil, Jacob Burke and Braedon Kurz.
Lee graduated from Englewood High School. He enjoyed football, baseball, slowpitch and fastpitch softball, bowling and sprint car races. Lee loved fishing, camping and hunting with his family. He was an avid Denver Broncos fan, attending several home games from Mile High Stadium to Invesco Field, to a Super Bowl in New Orleans. Along with loving the Broncos, he enjoyed watching Nuggets, Avalanche and Rockies games, but his heart was with the St. Louis Cardinals.
Lee worked for Jefferson County Public Schools for 34 years, retiring in 2021. Over those years he valued the friendships he built not only with his co-workers, but his brother in-law Rob. Prior to his time with Jefferson County Public Schools he worked several years in construction alongside both his brother-laws Ron and Rob. But Lee loved nothing more than spending his time with his wife, children and grandchildren. His family was the most important part of his life. Lee was a born again Christian, relying on his faith through any obstacle that came his way. Through several trials and tribulations, Lee knew his faith was stronger than those he was faced with.
The light and laughter that Lee brought to any room he entered will be immensely missed.
