Lester Raymond & Norma Deane Hathaway

Our parents were high school sweethearts who waited to marry and then shared nearly 73 years of marriage together. Their desire was to be together even in death and they both passed away peacefully at home with a mere two-day separation.

Lester Raymond Hathaway was born to George “Raymond” and Nellie (Mead) Hathaway on May 21, 1928 in Union, Nebraska. On March 20, 2022, he joined his parents and brother who had gone on before him.

Norma Deane Hathaway was born to Earl and Carrie (Hansen) Hermann on December 24, 1928 in Otoe County, Nebraska. On March 22, 2022, she joined her beloved husband and parents and brother who had gone on before her.

Our parents loved their family and greatly missed their first grandchild who predeceased them. They leave behind 3 daughters, 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandsons.

From their start in Nebraska to their end in Colorado, their love for each other was the foundation of each day. Lester loved looking over Norma’s shoulder and encouraging her when she was busy sewing, crocheting, and painting. Norma loved participating in Lester’s outdoor activities and just being with him when he watched sports. Expressions of affection were present several times a day; they usually held hands whenever they were sitting next to each other. If Lester was sick, Norma tenderly cared for him. If Norma was sick, Lester tenderly took care of her as well. No act of service was too big or too small when it came to providing for the other. What beautiful footsteps they left for their family to follow. They will be greatly missed!
