Louise E. Webber was born on a small farm outside of Almena, Kansas on January 26, 1933. Her parents were Lauren and Armida (Gishwiller) Smith. She passed away on May 6, 2026 at the age of 93. She had a younger brother, Loyal, who currently lives in Newton, KS.
Her early years consisted of farm chores and attending a one-room school on the prairie. She was proud to announce she was usually first in her class . . . she was usually the only kid in her class. She did not look back on her farm days with fondness, “You wouldn’t think those antiques were so neat if you had to use them every day!” She graduated from Northern Valley High School in Almena and began classes at Fort Hays (Kansas) State College.
She met Darrell Webber from Norton, Kansas on a blind date in 1956 and was soon married and moved to Denver, CO. Their first son, Jeff, was born in 1958 and then Steve in 1960. Raising a family and being a stay-at-home mom became her calling in life. In later years, she enjoyed travelling to many parts of the world thanks to Darrell’s career.
Louise found great joy and pride in her growing family. She is survived by sons, Jeff (Susie) and Steve (Cathy); her 5 grandchildren, Tara (Nick) Katseanes, Ryan (Chelsea), Eric (Maddy), Kevin (Carrie) and Mikayla; and finally her 4 great grandchildren, Wren, Sage, Jordy, and Ronny.
Louise loved playing bridge for over 70 years, often multiple times per week. She also loved the Denver Broncos. She was a great cook and seamstress. She had a sharp dry wit and a wide array of wonderful friends. She loved to shop, and get her hair and nails done.
Louise lived a rich, full, abundant life. She came from humble beginnings of not having electricity or indoor plumbing on the family farm to traveling the world.
Louise was preceded in death by Darrell, her loving husband of over 52 years of marriage.
A private celebration of life will be held by the family in June.
