Lucile Roberta Pearce, 93, passed peacefully the morning of September 8, 2012. She entered this world as Lucile Bowman, the elder of two children born to John and Alanda Bowman, in the small town of Dunlap, Iowa, but moved to Walnut, Iowa in her teens. "Luci" excelled at high school basketball, which was the beginning of a life-long love of sports including her favorites figure skating and tennis. Upon graduation from Walnut High School, Luci studied nursing in Omaha before joining United Airlines in 1940 as a stewardess. There, she met her future husband of 65 years, pilot William "Bill" Pearce (1918-2007). Luci was a long-time member of Clipped Wings, a philanthropic organization of retired flight attendants. In addition to tennis, which she played avidly well into her seventies, Luci excelled at knitting and gardening. She was the loving mother of four sons, William Jr., Edward, Robert, and Richard, and a grandson, John. Small floral bouquets delivered to the home in Broomfield will be placed on the grave in Crown Hill Cemetery, Wheat Ridge September 12 to 17. A private memorial dinner will be announced.
