Margaret Marion Jones was born on July 10, 1938, just outside of Hot Springs Arkansas to Roy and Ruth McRee. She passed away on August 12, 2025, at the age of 87, surrounded by her loving family. Margaret was raised in Lawson and Idaho Springs and graduated from Clear Creek High School. Margaret worked in the family oil and gas business in Dumont for many years until the business sold.
Margaret married William L. Jones on September 6, 1965, in Idaho Springs. They welcomed two children and lived in Idaho Springs until 1977. The family moved to Eagle, where they lived for the next 45 years. After the death of her husband, Margaret moved to Georgetown and lived with her daughter.
Margaret worked as a homemaker, a bookkeeper and volunteered with the Eagle Fire Auxiliary She also worked and volunteered with the Eagle County Historical Society where she shared her rich knowledge of local history at the museum in Eagle. One of her most beautiful attributes was her caring nature. She worked hard to create a wonderful home environment and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, as well as her extended family. Margaret was an avid baker and showed her creativity through the many crafts she enjoyed. She often donated her knitted and crocheted goods to special causes. Her grandchildren will always remember their time spent baking and learning her secret recipes. She loved supporting her children and grandchildren through all their various sports and activities.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, a sister (Alice Jo O’Donnell), a brother (Thomas McRee) and her husband William (2017). She is survived by her children, Cynthia of Georgetown and Bradley (Dominique) of Silt, her two granddaughters, Shayden and Taelia Jones, and her sister Mary MacKenzie of Greeley as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Margaret was well loved by all and will be missed.
