

Marian Alton passed away at the age of 87 in McDonough, GA at the Sacred Journey Hospice, after suffering a stroke on November 22nd. She was born on October 20th,1934, to Clarence and Pauline (Heng) Hohman in Nebraska City, Nebraska. Marian was the oldest child followed by Joanne, Lois, John, Gerald, and Kenneth.
Marian graduated from St. Bernard’s Catholic High School in Nebraska City, Nebraska in 1952. She worked in the offices at Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha, NE. During that time, she went with a girlfriend to Europe to see the country. A trip she really enjoyed and talked about frequently.
Marian met the love of her life at a dance club in Omaha, NE, and married Norman Dwight Alton on June 10th, 1961. In 1968 the couple, along with their three children moved to Thornton, CO. Two years later they purchased a house in Arvada, CO. where she resided for 44 years. During that time, she sold Avon in the neighborhood on her bicycles, seeing how she never got a driver’s license. She also was a homemaker and worked at a Cord Laboratories in Broomfield, CO.
Marian retired by 1997. The following year in July of 1998, her husband of 37 years, Dwight passed away from lung cancer.
While in retirement Marian enjoyed babysitting and worked at the nursery at Spirit of Christ Catholic Church where she was a long-time parishioner. Marian traveled extensively with her girlfriends Aggie and Lynn on Specialty Tours. She also met up yearly with her brothers and sisters for reunions in different parts of the United States. She enjoyed taking walks with long time neighbors Bobby and Lois Payte.
In 2014, Marian moved to McDonough, GA to be close to her daughter, Paula, and her family. She was quite the artist also enjoying sketching pictures of her grandkids.
Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Alton, her parents, and brother Kenneth and brothers in law Bob Schrepel and Ray Kreutz.
Marian is survived by daughter Paula (Mitch) Mullins of McDonough, GA, sons James Alton of Weston, FL, and Mark (Beverly) Alton of Parker, CO; grandchildren Alissa (Travis) Williams of Mableton, GA, Michael (Kala) Alton of Rock Springs, WY, Priscilla (Nate) Bailey of Atlanta, GA; Six great grandchildren Hunter, Landin, Mackenzie, and Emmett Alton, Landon Williams and Evelyn Bailey; Sisters Joanne Kreutz, Lois (Oscar) Christensen; brothers John (Susan) Hohman and Jerry (Sue) Hohman, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
