Mary Kathryn Warner (née Gerhardt) was born March 7, 1928, in Spokane, Washington to Gladys and Edgar Gerhardt. She was the oldest of three siblings; she had a younger sister Barbara, and brother David.
She and her husband, Marvin married on January 9, 1954, in Madison, Wisconsin. She graduated with a Masters of Arts in Piano and Voice from the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago, Illinois. Her first passion was music. She taught piano privately for many years and was adored by her students.
She was preceded in death by her sister Barbara, and her husband of 63 years, Marvin. Her legacy includes 2 children, 4 grandchildren, and 3 great grandsons. She was the compass of the family, helping us all to better determine our direction and supporting us in ways we can only now come to fully appreciate. She would always sign our birthday cards the same way, “with very much love,” and we will do our best to ensure that her love lives on.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation at the following link: https://www.mhopus.org/donate/
The Foundation donates high-quality musical instruments to deserving, under-funded music programs, and provides an array of support services to school districts nationwide. It combines the work of two of Mary’s passions, music and working with children.
Her family would like to thank Highline Place and Elevation Hospice for the outstanding care they provided over the last few years.
