

Born on December 22, 1917 to Iyono Nojima Nishitsuji and Jinnosuke Nishitsuji in La Junta, CO. She was one of 12 children and the eldest daughter.
She grew up in Las Animas, CO and graduated from Las Animas High School.
She also attended Japanese language school where she met her future husband Tadashi Miyazawa.
Determined to make a better life for her kids and family, she ventured out on her own to pursue better opportunities to earn a living in Denver. She was very driven and once she was able to save up enough money working various jobs, she brought her kids and husband to join her in the city. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother, farmer, executive secretary, and homemaker. She enjoyed oil painting, sewing, playing piano, playing softball with the boys, seeing the beautiful colors of the Aspen leaves every fall, hiking in the mountains with family, traveling around the US, with international adventures to Mexico and Japan. She loved Cheetos, chocolate and had quite the sweet tooth. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings at her place in Denver for holidays and get togethers. She was an avid supporter of her sons and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Preceded in death by brothers Kazuo, Takeo, Roy, Fred and George Nishitsuji and husband Tadashi Miyazawa.
She is survived by her brothers, Jim, Art and Bill Nishitsuji, and sisters Ida Shioshima, Anna Kunugi, and Irene Shimamoto, her four sons, Eugene, Frank, Edwin and Tad Miyazawa and two grandchildren, Todd Miyazawa and Aimee Miyazawa.
Visitation will be from 5-7pm on Mon. 5/7 with services at 11:00 am on Tues. 5/8, both at Olinger Crown Hill. May will be laid to rest next to her husband at Fairmount Cemetery.
