Milan Drake Jessen

28 octubre , 19943 junio , 2021

Milan Drake Jessen was born on October 28, 1994 to Tamara Carlson and Andrew Jessen. He passed unexpectedly on June 3, 2021.

Milan was one of the most caring people you could ever meet. He was a proud father to his daughter, Saveah, whom he loved more than anything in this world, His goal was to always be the best father he could be for her. He grew up around a gang of pets including cats, dogs, a Guinea pig, hamster and snake. He would often take Saveah to the Cat Care Society in Lakewood where they played with cats and kittens together.

Milan had many interests and was a creative genius. He was a talented artist, lyricist, musician, and gamer. He was extremely intelligent and was fascinated by history and science. Once he learned a fact, he never forgot it and shared it with anyone who would listen. In his free time, Milan could be found playing Dungeons and Dragons for hours with his friends and family; he was always the Dungeon Master and has a collection of books he used to create intricate games. Milan enjoyed video and computer gaming from an early age through his last days.

Above all, music was his passion. He listened to music differently than others did, paying special attention to the message behind the lyrics. He could tell you where different styles of hip hop originated, how, and explain how the style developed over the years. He created his first original composition in elementary school, and continued creating amazing music by masterfully mixing beats with original music. Milan was in the process of creating a song (that even his mother liked) and wanted to write inspiring lyrics about his life.

Milan will always be with his daughter, Saveah; his parents, Tamara and Andy; his baby brother, Jovin Tabb; grandmother, Wanda Carlson (GMa); grandfather, Elden Jessen; and grandparents Pat and Lynn Metalo, along with aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends too many to count.

Our beloved Milan was welcomed into heaven by friends and family members who preceded him, and his special furry friends.

Contributions in Milan’s honor can be made to the Cat Care Society or the DU Prison Arts Initiative using the links below.

Go in peace, our precious son.

I miss you so much Milan.
My heart breaks each day because I can't hug you or hear you tell me "I love you, mom."
It was you who made me a mom, which was, is, and always will be the best part of my life.
I hope you found peace baby.
I hope I will find it too.

I never got to meet Milan, but I have met his beautiful daughter Saveah and can only imagine that some of her wonderful traits come from him. Those traits of his will live on in her.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Love to you all.

We are so very, very sorry to hear of Milan's passing. We know how much this parting will bring pain and the deepest sense of loss to his parents, his brother, Jovin and especially to Seveah and to his dear grandmother, Wanda.

Our prayers and thoughts are with you all as your mourn the passing of Milan, who was so beautiful and treasured and cherished in this life. May Milan rest in peace and rise in glory. Where grief is banished and light and joy may evermore abide.

The Haley family is incredibly heartbroken to hear about the loss of our cousin and nephew, Milan. We give our love and prayers out to Saveah, Andy, the whole family, and friends who had the chance to know Milan. We remember watching Milan growing up from a soft spoken, humorous kid to a proud and loving father. We will never forget the impact he had on our lives!

What do you say to sum up a life of memories as Aunt Nono?
My sweetest memory is Easter 2001. While some family were inside decorating , others were outside hiding eggs, so I took Milan and Rebekah for a LONG walk.
I told them the unabridged version, to take up time. I told them how Jesus chose to come from Heaven to pay for our sin, just because He loves us so much, just like John 3:16 says(For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son; that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.)
I told them all the kind, loving things Jesus did, yet He allowed Himself to be crucified because Romans 3:23 says we all are all sinners, & that nothing good we do can get us to Heaven. (Titus 3:5)
As we talked about what crucified meant, and what Jesus went through, the beatings, the crown of thorns, spit, mocking, spikes in hands & feet, Milan started crying , wishing Jesus hadn't had to go through all of that because of his sin; our sin.
So I showed Milan, that although we all deserve to NOT go to Heaven, Jesus paid the price for all who "call on the name of the Lord." Right then, Milan sat down on the curb, asked Jesus to forgive his sin and believed .
It's so sad for us that Milan's gone, but what peace it gives to know Milan put his faith and trust in Jesus, so someday I'll see Milan again.

Milan was such an intelligent and ambitious person it was inspirational. He was one of the caring people I've ever met, he'd literally give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. Milan was like a brother to me and my life will never be the same without him. You'll forever be missed, loved and in our hearts Milan. I love you brother, and I will miss you every day till the day I die. Reast easy brother, I love you

Milan was my younger cousin, and one of my closest friends while we were growing up. I’ll never forget the countless of random conversations we had while trying to hide during family gatherings. As we got older, it became difficult to stay in touch, but he was never far from my thoughts. I cannot believe he’s gone.
Aunt Tamara, Grandma, Andy, and Jo, I so badly wish I could be there for you all. I’m sending you lots of love and prayers. ❤
