Known to close family as David, but to most, by Moe, Moe was born in Rawlins on July 12, 1956 to Moises and Elena Arellano as the youngest of 7 children. His family moved to Craig, CO very early in his life where he spent most of his formative years and he considered to be his home. He graduated from Moffat County High School in 1975.
After graduation, Moe worked as a coal miner and for a concrete company, but soon found a career in ironworking. He joined the Iron Worker’s Local Union 24 in June of 1979 where he climbed steel and connected iron until his retirement in 2023 after a 44 year career.
In 1978, Moe met Debra Rodriguez and they married in February of 1982. Moe and Debra had 4 children together but parted ways in 1987 after 5 years of marriage. He remarried to Anna Vigil in January of 2010. They shared 15 years of marriage before going their separate ways in early 2025.
Moe spent his life loving the freedom of the outdoors, the brotherhood of his work, and the stories and laughs his life provided. Fishing, hunting, and building things brought him joy that he loved to share with others. His dad was his hero, and his boys were his greatest accomplishment. Later in life, his grandchildren are what filled his heart with joy. If he wasn’t outdoors, he was likely enjoying a Denver Broncos game, the Denver Nuggets, or watching an old TV show or movie.
He is survived by 3 sons, Moises, Adam, and Joshua; siblings Ebert, Josephine, Mary, and Benita; grandchildren, Cassandra, Bailey, Lilly, Ryan, Madison, and Harper; and nieces and nephews Penny, Judy, Ricky, Berna, Jimmy, Travis, and Tony.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Moises and Elena; son, Anthony; sisters Bridgette and Ida; and nephew, Michael.
