Born on April 26, 1937, in Mineola, New York, Nancy was a tomboy who excelled in sports. When not cheering on the boys’ sports teams as a Manhasset High School cheerleader, she was a star player on the school’s field hockey team. Though her lifelong love of athletics included most sports, she was a fan of football in general and the Denver Broncos in particular. A highlight was seeing John Elway inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2004. Nancy was also a gifted musician who studied music at Pine Manor Junior College in Wellesley, Mass., and later served as a substitute adult and junior choir director at United Church of the Applewoods and was a longtime member of the church choir at Lakewood United Church of Christ.
Nancy’s greatest passion, however, was her family. Her life revolved around her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren (and beagles!), and they were always her deepest source of joy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert E. and Marion B. Mellor, sister, Brenda Mellor Hengesbach, and second husband, Darwin L. (Bill) Jimerson. She was the beloved mother of Deborah Williams, Bonnie Williams Nikolas (Craig “Nik”), Edward Williams (Jeanette) and Laurie Williams Sadler (Joel). She was equally cherished by her grandchildren, Alyssa Nikolas Riley (Connor), Rachel Nikolas, Candace Williams Holmes (Charlie), Jason Williams, Nicole Williams, Brandon Williams, Jeremy Mason and McKenzie Sadler and great grandchildren Lexi, Blake and Bradley.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Nancy’s name to the American Heart Association or Colorado Beagle Rescue. Visitation will take place at Crown Hill Mortuary in Wheat Ridge on Tuesday, March 10, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The memorial service is scheduled on Wednesday, March 11, at 2 p.m. at the Crown Hill Mortuary Chapel with a reception to follow.
