Norma Lee Johnson Pierce, was born February 27, 1937 to William Lee and Thurley Iona Johnson in Arvada, Colorado. She married Melvin Wayne Pierce in 1955. She was mother to five children, grandmother to 17 children and great-grandmother to five children. Her family and those few people that she counted as friends, knew that her one true mission in life was taking care of family. Norma and Melvin were married for 45 years until his life was taken from her in the year 2000. As Melvin’s life was drained away from her by a 2nd battle with leukemia, she had the courage and heart to grant his final wish, to die at home, no doctors, no nurses, just her and family. The years after Melvin’s passed were filled with not much fan fare. There were new birth in the family, more of “her kids.” In recent times there were deaths in the family as well as friends, and that meant people for her to console. Norma’s life was relatively quiet. She wasn’t famous, and she broke no records, but you knew, if you knew her was that she was there!
Services will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Olinger Crown Hill Chapel of Peace with visitation one hour prior. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery.
