Paul Luke Mahnen passed away on September 17, 2025 at home in Denver, Colorado. He was 88. He was born in Custar, Ohio on February 4, 1937 to Charles and Mary (née Urban) Mahnen. He attended primary and secondary schools in Ohio before attending the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY. He graduated in 1960 with a bachelor’s degree in marine engineering. While in New York, he met the love of his life, Lucille Aqualina. They married in 1961.
Paul’s career spanned many successful years. He began his career at the Pfizer plant in Brooklyn, then later worked for Revlon in Tuckahoe, NY. The highlight of his career was founding his own business where he consulted in the build out of pharmaceutical clean rooms and clinical labs. His work allowed him the opportunity to travel around the world. He included Lucille on many trips as they developed a love of exploring and travelling abroad.
Paul was well loved. He made friends wherever he went. His passions included opera, tennis, bowling, ballroom dancing, travelling, cribbage, reading, and community and cultural events in the New York metropolitan area for many years. He was a loving husband and caring father.
He is survived by three daughters, two sons-in-law, four grandchildren, and three sisters. Lucille preceded him in death as well as his parents and three brothers.
Paul’s wish was to be cremated and interred with Lucille in Locust Valley cemetery in Long Island. A small gathering of friends and family was held at his home in Denver on Saturday, September 20th.
In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations to any of the following three places in Paul’s name.
