Richard met Norma Jean Springer while she was working as a soda jerk at the Oxford Hotel and Drug. He went in for a cream soda. They got engaged at Norma's Senior Prom and married on November 21, 1948.
Together, Norma and Richard had two children, Judy and Steve.
Richard had a very successful career as a Revenue Agent for the State of Colorado. When he wasn't working he loved bowling, being with his family, and camping and fishing. He took great pride in his yard and loved his many roses.
When he retired, he purchased several saws and made many cute decorative items as well as many large cutouts to display in the yard for the holidays.
After Norma's death he began building Lego sets. They kept him busy and his mind sharp.
