He moved to Fort Collins, Colorado as a child and graduated from Fort Collins High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1/1944-5/1946 as a Radioman Second Class in the Asiatic Pacific. After graduating from Colorado A & M (now Colorado State University) with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, he worked for over 30 years at Ideal Basic Industries.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wilbur; son, Richard, Jr.; wife, Shirley and wife, Jeanette.
He will be missed and lovingly remembered by his daughter, Pam Kimball Butler and son-in-law, Roger .
