We are mourning the tragic loss of our dear family member, Robert Hajovsky, husband to Rae Garrett of Denver, brother of Jane Hajovsky of Santa Fe, nephew of Gloria Faye of Phoenix. Robert died unexpectedly on Saturday, May 20, 2017. Robert is survived by both immediate and extended family and many friends. Robert’s cousins live in Arizona and Texas, his extended family in Denver, Kansas and New York City. He was also blessed with amazing friends in Denver, Kansas and all around the country.
Robert was born on October 1, 1956 in Elkhart, KS to JJ (Jerome) and Henrietta Hajovsky who both preceded him in death. He grew up in Southwestern Kansas. He was an accomplished athlete at the Elkhart High School, playing baseball, his true love, basketball, football and track. His track team won the state mile relay when he was a freshman (only freshman on the team). Robert attended Kansas State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Financial Audit in 1979 and achieved his CPA soon after. He moved to Denver in 1988.
Robert was an avid fisherman, having just returned from a fishing trip to Key West, Florida. He loved to travel and he and Rae have cruised the Mediterranean, explored castles and watched the Scottish Open in Scotland, visited Gettysburg and often celebrated New York City. Paris is their favorite city in the world, though the trip to the Normandy Beaches was unforgettable.Robert loved to spend time with his friends ranging from his golf foursome to his friends met through work at Union Pacific, Audit Force/Jefferson Wells, Coors and Lockton. His newest found hobby was Nascar; his first and only race was this past March with cousins Jim and Donna in Las Vegas.
We all miss our passionate, gentle, huggable Robert terribly and will be celebrating his life on Saturday May 27, 2017, from 1- 4pm at Fossil Trace Golf Course in Golden, CO (https://www.fossiltrace.com/)
We encourage contributions in memory of Robert. One of our favorite charities is the Second Wind Fund (http://www.thesecondwindfund.org/). Second Wind Fund has built an innovative program to match children and youth ages 19 and younger, who are at risk of suicide, with a licensed therapist in their local community. Another choice of charities is the Colorado Wildlife Heritage Foundation: https://www.cowildlifefoundation.org/
We encourage you to share memories and comments here on the website.
Flowers should not be sent to Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary and Cemetery, Memorial Services are being held at Fossil Trace Golf Course on Saturday May 27th, 2017. You can either bring them with you or have them sent to Rae's home.
