

Robert Gilbert Posson was born in Spirit Lake, Iowa on November 8, 1919, the son of Harry M. Posson and Nettie Posson (Gilbert). Robert died peacefully on September 18, 2012 at 11:20 P.M. after a battle with cancer. He grew up in Norton, Kansas and graduated from Norton High School. He served as a volunteer fireman in Norton, achieved the rank of Life Scout and was selected by his fellow scouts to be a member of the Order of the Arrow in the Boy Scouts of America.
Robert served in the United States Army in Italy during World War II and received an Honorable Discharge on October 18, 1945. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and a life member of the American Legion. Until 2009 he was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge.
Robert married Dorothy Belle Dunavan in Norton, Kansas on December 19, 1945 whom he stated on numerous occasions that she was the best thing that ever happened to him. He is survived by his wife of over 66 years, Dorothy Posson (Dunavan). Robert and Dorothy moved to Denver on July 21, 1957 and purchased a home which they have lived in since then. He worked for many years in heating and air conditioning industry.
Robert devoted 70 years of his life as an adult volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America which encompassed work as a Scoutmaster of troop 68, various Denver Area Council Commissioner positions, Philmont Scout Camp training, being awarded the Vigil Honor rank in the Order of the Arrow, and being awarded the Silver Beaver Award.
Robert was one of the original founders of the Colorado Clown Alley and was a lifetime member of the World Clown Association and a member of Clowns of America. He was a professional clown that worked in restaurants, birthday parties, company parties, and he also appeared in a national television commercial for a real estate company. Robert (Poss the clown) and Dorothy (Dot the clown) also volunteered as a clown visiting children in hospitals, at special Olympic events, and in community parades (was voted best clown in 8 different annual parades). He was a life member of Mile High Magicians.
Robert put up Christmas decorations, which he made himself, for his home for over 70 years and won awards for his Christmas Lighting in five years. He made and put up decorations in his yard for all other holidays.
Robert was active in the Garden Park Community Church and was a Head Usher there for a long time.
With no children of his own, he enjoyed telling everyone he had "thousands of children everywhere!".
