Robert "Bob" Rafferty was born in Manchester, NH where he grew up with his parents, Bernard and Mandy (Lacerte) Rafferty, his siblings, Jo-Ann (Rafferty) Audet and Paul Rafferty, and their large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. He passed away in Myrtle Beach, SC on July 1, 2024 at the age of 77.
Bob enlisted in the Navy in his early 20’s and during his service he met Joan Fitzsimmons on a blind date, whom he married in 1969. They moved to Denver, Colorado in the mid-1970’s where they raised their three children. Bob enjoyed carpentry and often could be found in his shop. Some of the most memorable things he made were for his family: clubhouses, a dollhouse, picture frames for family photos and a chess table. He also made many Pinewood Derby cars with his sons. Our father did the majority of the cooking in our family and his specialties were lasagna, Boston baked beans and green chile, which he would often make for gatherings with family and friends, where his laughter was often heard. Bob always enjoyed the water and was a fly fisherman. After his retirement from RTD, Bob moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to live near the water so he could walk his dogs on the beach.
Bob is survived by his children, Gayle Rafferty, Rob Rafferty and Dr. Ryan Rafferty. He is preceded in death by his wife, Joan Rafferty, his mother Mandy Rafferty and his father Bernie Rafferty.
Bob will be laid to rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 4400 West Kenyon Avenue, Denver, CO 80236. His committal service is Monday, December 16, 2024, at 10:15am.
