

Ruthe (Koike) Terada, 101, of Lakewood, Colorado, passed away on May 23, 2024, peacefully at home. Ruthe was a woman of energy and love, who was the last survivor of 6 children. Born in Logan, Utah on November 23, 1923 to Bankichi and Sei Koike, who were Japanese immigrants. Ruthe met her husband, Roy Takuya Terada, in Salt Lake City when he was on furlough from Military Intelligence Army during WWII.
After the war they lived in Hawaii and later settled in Denver, where Roy obtained his CPA through the Veterans Bill at University of Denver. She was the financial secretary for the Jefferson County Public School District for many years after working for the federal government. Ruthe was a devoted member of Simpson United Methodist Church. She and Roy travelled extensively, spent extra time fishing and valuable time with their friends and family.
Ruthe was predeceased by two brothers, Koichi and Shunji/Robert Koike and three sisters, Momoyo/Barbara, Yoshiko Ikari, Seiko/Gene Shimizu, and Hanako/Elaine Toguchi. She faithfully kept their memories alive through stories and contact with their families.
Ruthe is survived by 3 daughters, Beverly (Douglas Giloy), Carolyn (Timothy See) and Vicki (Carl Strayer)…3 grandchildren, Amanda Harvey, Christopher Giloy and Megan (Zach Harper). Daniel Strayer passed away in 2023…3 great grandchildren, Fiona MacLennan, Oliver Harvey and Hiro Harper.
