

Sharon Lee Smith (Barnhill) September 11, 1929- April 20,2020. Sharon entered the gates of heaven April 20, 2020 at her home in Arvada, CO. She was the beautiful daughter of Kenneth Eagle Barnhill of Illinois and Lucy Shelton Waldron of Colorado, born September 11,1929 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She graduated from High school in Salida, Colorado. Then traveled to West CA there she participated in several block dance celebrations, she was an beautiful and grateful dancer, at which she met her wonderful husband Robert Jimmie Smith who preceded her in death October 30,2000, they were married in Salida Co July 29,1949. The couple lived in a small white house in Boulder, CO where Sharon worked as a switchboard operator while Robert went to college at CU Boulder. They moved to Colorado Springs here they had a beautiful daughter Shaunee Christine Smith (Groth) born September 7,1954 and a bouncing baby boy Shelton Lee Smith (Lausmith), September 4, 1961. They moved to Arvada in 1963 where several family memories were made. Sharon enjoyed being in the outdoors of Colorado Rocky Mountains from camping at the family cabin in Silverthorne, to several adventures in the mobile home, and spending time living in Estes Park with Robert. Sharon loved hosting family and friend gatherings including card nights. Sharon had an artistic talent of making ceramics come alive while painting them. As a loving mother and wife if Sharon would call you by your full name you knew you were in trouble. Later in life she would stick her pointy tongue out at you, followed by a forgiving smile. Surviving Sharon are her brother Kenneth Barnhill (Caroline), of Hyland Ranch Co, daughter Shaunee Groth (Darrell), of Merino CO, grandson Travis Groth (Kristi), great grandchildren Autumn, Liam and Mason of Brush CO, granddaughter Brianne Groth, of Grand Junction CO, Son Shelton Lausmith (Teri), of Golden CO, Granddaughter Cyndee Gargaro (Sammy), great grandchildren Trey, Hailee, Paul and Charlee of Westminster CO, granddaughter Cassee Frahm (Cory), great grandchildren Cole, Liam and Jaxon of Arvada CO, and grand daughter Kiara Lausmith of Golden CO. Sharon was cremated. Because of the Covid-19 restrictions a celebration of life will be scheduled later this year. Donations to Susan G. Komen for the cure breast cancer research.
