Simone Raymonde Newrohr was born January 21, 1925 in Nice, France to Eli and Madelline. She passed away at the age of 98 years old in Wheat Ridge Colorado. She is preceded in death by her parents and the love of her life, husband Robert Newrohr. Left to cherish her memory are her children Sharon and Michael, and grandchildren Nathan and Simone as well as siblings Pierre and Nolet.
Simone was living in France during the war. This is when she was a child and also a teenager, so her form of education was not the typical type of schooling that most of us have.
She was very intelligent and creative-Simone’s artistic ability was absolutely outstanding.
She was such an excellent artist that she was chosen to go to one of the most prestigious art schools in Paris, but she turned this down because she was very attached to her elderly grandmother and did not want to leave her to live alone since Simone was living with her grandmother at this time.
Growing up in the time of war is so hard for most people to even imagine, and Simone was so strong and able to adapt to whatever situations arose in her life that she admirably made it through and went on to complete her extensive life’s journey.
Simone was such a perfect mom. She didn’t believe in having babysitters or putting her two children in any nurseries, daycares or anywhere like that. She wanted to be a homemaker so that she would be home for the children and be able to be home for them. This is a miraculous and rare thing in this day and age to be that selfless.
Since she was such an excellent artist she could have sold her oil paintings or done some other work outside of the home work, but she really did spend her whole life caring for her children.
Simone’s creative abilities did not end with oil painting. She would actually invent such beautiful and imaginative creations. These creative things that she would make were actually made before other artists had sold their specific creations and Simone had already thought of the same thing, but she just did not try to sell them or bring any attention to the things she had made. She was very modest and shy. She did not like attention drawn to herself. She could have become a famous artist but her family was her number one priority. She also did beautiful gothic writing and crocheting on linen.
One of Simone’s outstanding hobbies was growing the most beautiful roses in her own yard. She could grow these rare, gorgeous roses from just a stick of one in the ground and they would grow to become large rose bushes.
Simone was actually a saint living on Earth. The main thing she did everyday was pray the rosary all day long and pray for the poor and unfortunate people in the world. She would go to church every Sunday until her health would not permit her to go to church in her 90’s.
She used to walk to church and take the bus because she was in very good health considering her age and she loved to walk and be in Nature.
