Thomas Joseph Torrez, age 87, passed away peacefully at his home on July 25, 2025, surrounded by love. Born on October 18, 1937, at St. Anthony Hospital in Denver, Colorado, he was the beloved son of Joseph Torrez and Agneda Lopez. Tom lived a spiritual and full life, rooted in family, faith in God, and hard work. A proud graduate of St. Francis de Sales Catholic High School, Class of 1954, he carried his values with him into every chapter of his journey. From an early age, he worked alongside his father at Peerless Printing, instilling in him a strong work ethic and a deep sense of pride in a job well done. He later crisscrossed the Denver metropolitan area behind the wheel of a taxi, always with a story to tell and a kind word for his passengers. But it was his remarkable 44-year career with the Denver Post Office that truly defined his dedication and commitment. Tom faithfully served the community through snow, rain, and sunshine until his well-earned retirement in 2006. A man of quiet strength, deep devotion, and enduring kindness, Tom’s legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Torrez and Agneda Lopez, his cherished wife Diana, his beloved brother Leo, his precious grandson Kristopher, and many other dear family members. Throughout his life, Tom's greatest pride and joy was his family. He was married to Anette Cohen on May 3rd, 1962 and they had three children Nick Frazier; daughter Angelica (grandchildren; Amira, Corra, Jocelyn, and Gabriel); son Kristopher (grandchildren; Eric, Mia, and Andrea); Son Jordan (wife Courtney); and Son Eli, daughter Denise Towers (son Ben), Michelle Houder (husband Lyndall); (daughter Tess (husband Kalub) daughter Angela, son Brenden, and daughter Kora). Tom found his lifetime love and married Diana Davis on August 23, 1968, with whom he had three more children; daughter Cathy Torrez; daughter Tammie Gallegos (daughter Amanda (husband Turner) and son Thomas); daughter Linda Samora-Torrez (wife Karina); daughters Rachel, Makayla and grandson; Kai); two sisters Lola Sanchez and Joyce Smail; along with a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and relatives who brought him laughter, love, and endless memories over the years.
Tom was a lifelong member of St. Francis de Sales Church, where his unwavering faith and devotion were evident in every aspect of his life. The church was more than just a place of worship for Tom—it was a cornerstone of his identity, a spiritual home where he found community, comfort, and purpose. As a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus, he embodied the principles of charity, unity, and fraternity, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a kind word. Tom's quiet strength, deep faith, and generous spirit left a lasting impact on all who knew him, and his presence will be deeply missed by his church family and fellow Knights.
Tom’s love was the kind that didn’t need to be spoken to be understood—it was felt in every gesture, every sacrifice, every moment he showed up with strength and quiet devotion. He led by example, teaching life’s most important lessons not just through words, but through the way he lived—with honesty, humility, and a heart full of care. His presence brought comfort, his laughter brought joy, and his wisdom offered steady guidance through life’s many turns. Tom was the kind of person who made you feel safe just by being near, who believed in you even when you doubted yourself, and who gave of himself freely, without ever needing recognition. Though he may be gone from this world, the love Tom gave lives on—in the values he passed down, the stories he shared, and the lives he touched so deeply. His legacy is one of compassion, strength, and unwavering love—a love that continues to shape and guide those who were blessed to call him Dad, Grandpa, Brother and Friend.
