

Vernon Edward Keegan passed away on April 4, 2016 at the age of 95. He was born in Pawnee, Nebraska to Joseph and Nellie Keegan. Vern was the third of four children. He grew up on a farm in Baileyville, Kansas.
He served in the army during WWII. He was wounded in November of 1944 while serving in France and was awarded the Purple Heart. He moved home after being honorably discharged. He later moved to Denver, Colorado where he met and married Phyllis Anderson.
Vern was a devoted husband and a loving father. Together they raised five children. Family was always very important to Vern.
Vern was preceded in death by: his wife Phyllis, his parents Joseph and Nellie Keegan, his sisters’ Thelma McNergney and Loyola Glen and his brother Gerald Keegan.
He is survived by his children: Jan (John) Jennings of Kaysville, Utah, Michael (Rhody) Keegan of Golden, Colorado, Patti Harrell of Green River, Wyoming, Joseph Keegan of Rifle, Colorado and Scott (Kendra) Keegan of Sheridan, Colorado.
His grandchildren: Chris Jennings, Shannon Balzly, Megan Harrell, Lauren Broomhall, Colin Harrell and Rachel Degurse and two great granddaughters: Layla and Berkeley Balzly whom also survive him.
Services will be held at noon on Monday, April 18th at Olinger Crown Hill Chapel. A viewing will be held the day before, Sunday, April 17th from 4 - 7 pm.
Following the service, Vern will be taken to Ft. Logan National Cemetery and given a military burial.
Vern enjoyed tending roses, playing cards, and reading. He was a kind and gentle individual that touched the lives of many during his lifetime and will be greatly missed!
