Walter M Spruit

Walter was the son of Jacob and Clara (Merritt) Spruit of Los Angeles, Ca. He grew up in California with 5 sisters and 2 brothers. At the age of 18 he left home to fulfill his calling and attend Bible College in Indianapolis, Indiana, followed by Seminary in Rockford Ill. He returned to Indianapolis to Pastor a church where he met and married Esther Piper on September 14th, 1963. Walter and Esther had a daughter, Shirley, born in Indiana and after a year, moved back to California where they were blessed with two more daughters, Debbie, and Lisa. Walter began a job as a 4th grade schoolteacher and during the summers, when school was out, he would take his family and travel the countryside preaching to many different churches. He later became a Manager of a Christian bookstore and would be transferred to many different states, eventually settling in Lakewood, Co, where he was blessed with a son Marcus. He lived happily there with Esther and his children until her passing in 2004. In May of 2010, he married Sylvia Erickson and moved to Keizer, Oregon, where he lived until his passing.

Walter will be remembered for his love, knowledge and dedication to God, Family, and the many People he ministered to. In addition to his love for teaching and preaching, he also enjoyed playing tennis, watching football, dining out (a favorite pastime of his), and family gatherings. He was a sweet, patient, silly, loveable man, and he will be greatly missed.

He leaves to cherish his memory: His wife, Sylvia of Keizer Oregon: Children; Shirley Brown (Loren) of California, Debra Gifford (Gary) of Mississippi, Lisa Levine (Michael) of Indiana, and Marcus Spruit of Colorado: Sylvias children; Lori Frey of Oregon and Debbie Janke of Oregon: Sister Phyllis Campbell of Oregon: Grandchildren; Dustin, Renee, Travis, Ryan, Tim, Kristen, and Dillon: Great Grandchildren; Noah, Christian, Makayla, Ava, and Oliver

Visitation will be held February 13th from 2-5 pm at Olinger Crown Hill Funeral Home, 7777 W 29th Ave, Wheat Ridge Co 80033

Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
