

Wilson Richard Hunter “Wil”, 87 of Arvada. He was preceded in death by his wife Sue and his brother Jim. Wil is survived by his daughters Karen (John) Zinanti and Julie (Chris) Bowman, three grandchildren, Daniel, Melissa, and Bailee. Also survived by his sister-in-law Glenita (Donald) Emarine, niece Sandra (David) Everett, nephew Christopher (Stephanie) Hunter, Grand Nephews, Derek, Caleb, Noah, and Oliver, Grand Niece Tessa, as well as Great Grand Niece Louisa. Wil was born in Chillicothe, Missouri on May 13, 1934, and passed away on March 26, 2022 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He graduated from Webb City High School in Webb City, Missouri in 1951 and shortly thereafter moved to Denver where he met his sweetheart, Sue. Wil served in the United States Navy from January 1953 until he was honorably discharged in December 1956. Wil married Sue in March of 1957. He worked for Martin Marietta for 18 years, during which time he attended night school, earning a Bachelors’ Degree in Business from the University of Colorado in 1971. In 1976 Wil began working as a Federal Bank Examiner for the United States Department of the Treasury and retired in 1994. He earned his Masters Degree from Northwestern University during his time at the Treasury Department. After retiring, Wil enjoyed traveling with Sue, dabbling at his prestidigitation hobby skills, and spending time with his daughters and their families. A memorial service followed by interment will be held Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 9:30 in the morning at Crown Hill Cemetery – Chapel of Peace, 7777 W. 29th Ave., Wheat Ridge, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Denver Hospice, the Colorado Visiting Nurses Association, or another charity of choice in Wil’s memory.
