

Agnes Peterman, age 96 of West Bloomfield, Michigan passed away peacefully on January 2, 2022. She was born on September 30, 1925 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Tony and Alice (Vanderwal) Ferwerda. Agnes was committed to education and learning. She trained to become a registered Nurse at Blodgett Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Grand Rapids, Michigan and received her BS from Central College in Pella Iowa. A rare accomplishment for a woman of her generation. Her career spanned over many years working in public health, hospitals and nursing homes.
Agnes was a long time member of Orchard Lake Community Church, Presbyterian where she served as a Deacon. Her passion was baking cookies. She would bake hundreds of cookies each year for the church bake sale. She even had her own section in the church cookbook: “Agnes Peterman’s Cookies”. She had a love for travel and always advised her family to “travel while you can”. She also enjoyed knitting, and spending time with her family.
Agnes is survived by her children; Douglas (Shahla) Peterman, Roger (Mary) Peterman, Thomas (Jeanne Bertolli) Peterman, Sue Peterman and Mary (Tony) Vrbensky; her grandchildren Halleh (Luke) Fallert, Shadi Peterman, Christina (Josh) Hubert, Liz (Bradley) Younger, Rob (Allison) Peterman, Jim Peterman, Kate Peterman, Diana (Trace Deighan) Peterman, Emily and Eric Vrbensky; her great grandchildren Collin, Owen, Hannah, Caroline, Austin and Mae; and her brother Peter Ferwerda.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband: Lloyd Peterman, her sisters Dorothy Stoepker and her twin sister Carol Groenink.
Private services and inurnment will be at Orchard Lake Community Church, Presbyterian.
