Born on August 6, 1946 in Pontiac, Michigan, she filled the lives of those around her with joy and warmth until her last breath. Cheryl graduated from Walled Lake Senior High School, where she not only received her education but also found her lifelong partner, John Skorupski. Their love story blossomed, culminating in marriage on October 14, 1966. Together, they embarked on a journey filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
Throughout her life, Cheryl was an active member of her community. She found solace and inspiration in her faith, actively participating in bible study groups. Her love for sports led her to enjoy rounds of golf and evenings spent bowling. However, it was on the dance floor where Cheryl truly shined, as she and her husband were part of a performing dance group, showcasing their talents in clogging and country western dance styles during the 1990s.
Beyond her hobbies, Cheryl found immense fulfillment in giving back. She truly enjoyed her time as a guest staff member at Sarah Banks Middle School. Cheryl's generosity knew no bounds, and she was known for her kind heart and selfless nature.
Family was the cornerstone of Cheryl's life, and she took immense pride in her role as a grandmother. Known affectionately as "Dabba" to her beloved grandchildren, she found unparalleled joy in their company. Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond her own family, as she embraced the title of "mother" to many, earning the trust and admiration of all who knew her.
Cheryl's magnetic personality and infectious humor endeared her to everyone she met. Strangers quickly became friends in her presence, and her genuine kindness touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She maintained lifelong friendships, treasuring connections forged in childhood and beyond. While she loved many dogs throughout her life, Luke was her favorite.
Cheryl and John traveled with each other and their friends to many places across the United States, but one of her favorites was spending winter months at their Florida home, especially when enjoying breakfast at the Venice Jetty was involved. She also loved spending time on the water in the boat that her and John shared.
She is preceded in death by her parents Nelson and Mary Robinson; son-in-law Mike Turner; brother Nelson “Buddy” Robinson and brother-in-law Kenneth (Jodee) Skorupski.
Cheryl is survived by her loving husband John; children Steve (Erin) Skorupski and Wendy (Mike) Turner; grandchildren Michael (Nicole) Turner, Johnathan Turner, Lily Skorupski and Liva Skorupski; siblings Sandra Robinson, Emily (Jim) Asher, and Michelle (John) Berlin, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Cheryl leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and compassion that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. While she may no longer walk among us, her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched, forever remembered for her unwavering kindness and boundless love.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 beginning at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church located at 9086 Hutchins Road, White Lake, Michigan with a luncheon to immediately follow at the church in Paddy's Hall.
