Connie Lynn Holmes

CONNIE L. HOLMES (Hillyer) age 72, born on September 9, 1938 in Cincinnati, Ohio and passed away on May 9, 2011 in Commerce Twp., Michigan. Beloved wife of the late Edward J. Holmes; Loving mother of Michelle L. Holmes & Edward M. Holmes; Cherished grandmother of Kaleb E. Holmes & Emily Zaleski; Connie is also survived by her brother Roy M. (Sarah) Hillyer Jr., brother-in-law David M. Fillhart (the late Betsy Ann), sisters-in-law Mary A. (the late Jack) Holmes-Bolt, & Oril Ann (Gary) Perkins; Connie was loved by many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Connie will be sadly missed by all of “Connie’s Kids”. Mrs. Holmes taught for the Walled Lake Consolidated School District for 34 years at Commerce Elementary School. Connie served on Commerce Township Planning Commission where she was a chairperson for 16 years. She was also honored as Citizen of the Year by Commerce Township for her many years of service. Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday May 14, 2011, at the Union Lake Road Chapel of the Elton Black and Son Funeral Home 1233 Union Lake Road White Lake, Michigan. Family Will Receive Friends from 4:00 – 8:00 pm on Friday May 13, 2011. In lieu of flowers, donations to: Charity-WLSEFCU, 3095 S. Commerce Road, Walled Lake, MI 48390; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
