I will miss David so much, such a shock. He was the tenant of a good friend of mine living in Indian village. When she moved he came to stay with me in the Boston Edison in Detroit. He was the most wonderful tenant and stayed for something many years, not sure seems it was forever. I only remember our wonderful friendship which continued after he moved and got his own house. He never missed wishing me a happy birthday, we always touch base during the holidays and he would sometimes send me candy on Valentine’s Day. We had planned to have another dinner soon !  This is such a shock. He was wonderful friend and I will miss him tremendously as I’m sure everyone who loved him will as well.

My first memory of Dave was in Mrs. Donnely’s first grade class where she accused him of dropping cookie crumbs under his desk and attracting ants. Naturally he didn’t respond but later denied it privately. A couple of years later I moved to Red Leaf Lane across from the Karwaski family and we, along with Jeff, became best buddies. His twin-speak little brothers called us Dedoe, Oddie, and Dobb. It was a great neighborhood to grow up and come of age in. We’ve been friends even since. Almost 60 years. So many memories and stories. Davey (Dedoe/BA) was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

You will be missed by your MPC Family.  The quite void you leave behind will be tough to replace.  May you rest in peace.

Can I do this in 2000 characters? I never knew David, I knew BA.  Perhaps it was his alter ego.  Also liked to call him Ratso which I think he liked.  Here's a few things I knew about him. Showing up late?  I'd say it was early.  I was his fine dining companion for 30 plus years.  I'd asked him what time and I'd never hear back but often he showed up at 3 pm for dinner.  He loved Italian, steamed mussels, Asian and trying the newest hot restaurant.  His drink of choice was campari, tonic and extra lime.  A vegetarian, he introduced me to Indian and middle eastern food long before it was a popular cuisine.  He threw lavish dinner parties.  We ate at Chinese restaurants on Xmas and Italian on Thanksgiving.   A low talker, he loved to talk about his past.  Like getting stuck without the correct currency in Europe, riding his bike as a kid in B'ham and NYC.  He loved animals including his dog, Rover.  Avant garde and eccentric indeed.  He was looking forward to retirement and after the election even looked into moving to Canada and/or Italy.

I’m so sorry to hear of David’s passing (affectionately known by a few of his friends as “BA”). I moved to Northern MI in 2019 and hadn’t seen him for quite some time. Still, he holds a special place in my heart. I always enjoyed his quirks.  Your obituary is beautifully and perfectly written. My sincere condolences to the entire family. Warmest regards. Dave was my closest cousin growing up and coming of age, beginning as toddlers.  So many childhood memories when we lived close to each other in the Detroit area.  Those were some of the best days of my life.
