

Elizabeth “Betty” Jean Leonard (Hall) joined her beloved husband Edward “Eddie” William Leonard, Jr. when sunset came to her earthly life, on December 17, 2013. Daughters Janice McCrary and Carol Droste-Turcotte (Real Turcotte) will miss their cherished Mom and biggest supporter. Grandchildren Lindsay Droste, David McCrary and Matthew Droste will miss the GrandMom that was so proud and adored each of them. Many nieces and nephews survive. Betty was welcomed at the Gates of Heaven by her beloved husband Edward, son-in-law Bruce Droste, brother William Hall, sisters Ruth Wert and Grace Howell, brother Robert Hall, her parents Adelaide and Clifford S. Hall and parents-in-law Edward and Marie Leonard. Born in Detroit on March 7, 1924 Betty grew up in Detroit. Betty and Ed were married on September 4, 1948 and made their loving home in Westland, Michigan where they raised both of their daughters. Betty worked fulltime for S.S. Kresge (Woodward Ave), Greyhound (Detroit Terminal), Ford Motor (Wayne Assembly) and the Wayne-Westland School District. At the age of 47, while working fulltime, Betty went back to college fulltime to complete her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Eastern Michigan University. She used her college degree to return to the Wayne-Westland and Plymouth-Canton School Districts where she taught and worked in Pupil Personnel Services with Plymouth-Canton. Upon retirement, Betty and Ed spent some of their winter time in North Fort Myers, Florida and some of their summer time on Manistee Lake in Kalkaska, Michigan while keeping their family home in Westland. During retirement she was an involved GrandMom participating in her grandchildren’s passions, education and travels. Jan, Carol, Lindsay, David and Matthew will carry her devotion, passion, tenderness, kindness and love with them, always. We’re proud and honored to be the family of Elizabeth and Edward Leonard. Arrangements are through Elton Black and Son Funeral Home, White Lake, Michigan. However, services and internment will be private. Burial will be at Parkview Memorial Cemetery, Livonia Michigan.
