James "Bud" Hill Jr.

James “Bud” Russell Hill, Jr., age 93, of White Lake, and Estero, Florida, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Cranberry Park Assisted Living in West Bloomfield. Left to cherish his memory are his four children: Pamela (Daniel) Ciesinski, Mark (Colleen Murphey) Hill, Holly Bair, and James (Kim) Hill, III; his fourteen grandchildren: Daniel, Ashley, Crystal, Ryan, Ian, Hannah, Drake, Paula, Jessica (Matthew), Kevin, Erin (Frank), Megan (Timothy), Caitlin, and Angela; his nine great-grandchildren; and his one great-great-grandchild.

Bud was born December 20, 1929, in Detroit, the son of Mr. & Mrs. James and Hazel (Price) Hill. He was married to the love of his life, Waneta, on October 14, 1950. Bud and Waneta shared nearly fifty-seven wonderful years together until Waneta’s passing in March of 2007. Throughout his life, Bud worked as a carpenter. He started his career in 1950 at AC&S before eventually moving to Rand Environmental in 1986. It was from this company that Bud retired in 1993. Bud was a natural handy-man; even going as far as to build the family home that his children were raised in! In his free time, Bud could always be found bowling, playing a round of golf, or taking his dog for rides on his golf cart. He spent many years of his life in Florida, and has fond memories of his time there. Bud was a wonderful man who will be dearly missed.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, James and Hazel; his loving wife, Waneta; and his sister, Barbara Tines.

A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at the Union Lake Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 1233 Union Lake Road, White Lake, Michigan 48386. Bud’s family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and again on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. A burial will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may consider donations in Bud’s memory to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
