James Chiang Waung

Beloved husband of Maureen for nearly 62 years. Loving father of Martin (Anita) Waung, Marie (Thomas Brice) Waung and David (Connie) Waung. Proud grandfather of Cassandra, Christopher, Daniel, Ryan, Brendan, Aidan, Elise, Austin (Abbe), August, Jonathan and honorary granddaughter, Anne Marie. Brother of Linda Chan and the late John Waung. He is also survived by many other loving extended family members.

Mr. Waung was a Mechanical Engineer who believed in, supported, and advocated strongly for education. He loved to host large family Chinese dinners. He enjoyed doing small amounts of day trading on the stock market and regularly donated to the Salvation Army and the American Red Cross. He was a long time member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church where he assisted in counting money each Monday. In his spare time he enjoyed sports, especially the Detroit Tigers and Lions. He was often found listening to classical music, but he most enjoyed John Philip Sousa's marches. His generous character, kind heart, and zest for life will be missed by all.

A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 4300 Walnut Lake Road in West Bloomfield. The family will receive guests from 9:30 am until the time of the mass at 10:00 am.
