Joan Catherine McGee

Joan Catherine McGee, age 81, of Commerce Township, was born February 8, 1942 in Detroit, and passed away July 21, 2023 at home. Loving mother of David (Kelly) McGee, Alex (Sherri) McGee, and Dan (Holli) McGee. Proud grandmother of Amanda (Alex) Mitchell, Cory McGee, Rachel (Jeremy) Smith, Mitchell McGee, and Riley McGee. Treasured great-grandmother of Adysen Mitchell, Tatum Mitchell, Greysen Mitchell, and Eninna Mitchell. Dear sister of David (Peggy) Brown. Joan will be missed by numerous other family members and friends. Joan was preceded in passing by her beloved husband, Robert McGee; her parents, Justin and Hazel Brown; and her siblings, Jim Brown and Barbara (Arthur) Wilusz.

Joan's passion for gardening, painting, and baking with her grandkids brought joy and creativity into her life, leaving cherished memories for her loved ones. Her remarkable buttercream frosting will forever be remembered as a delightful treat that added sweetness to countless gatherings. Additionally, her dedicated service and retirement from the Henry Ford Health System leave a legacy of compassion and care for those she served throughout her career.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 24, 2023 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and Tuesday, July 25, 2023 from 10:00am until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00am at the Union Lake Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 1233 Union Lake Road, White Lake. Following the service and preceding the burial, there will be a memorial luncheon held at the funeral home. Burial will be held Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at 2:00pm at Commerce Memorial Cemetery, 2451 Benstein Road, Commerce Township.
