Beloved husband of Kitrina (Castle) Van Meter for 54 years. Dedicated and loving father of Tina (Bob) Wahl and Cindy (Jeff) Long. Proud and loving grandfather of Logan Reynolds, Paige Reynolds, and Gwyn Reynolds, Nicholas (Hannah) and Peyton Long. Brother of Judith (Grace Marlowe) Van Meter and Susie Van Meter. He is also survived by many caring extended family members and long-time family friend Robin Hoisington.
(Larry) Mike Van Meter was born April 8, 1951 to William and Barbara Lucille (nee Rose) Van Meter. Jr. He retired from General Motors Truck and Bus after 35 years of very dedicated service. He held many positions on the line and finished his career as a Hi-lo driver, which he said, being a driver was his favorite job. In his younger years he was an EMT and volunteer firefighter (17 years) with the Keego Harbor Fire Department. Mike enjoyed driving trips near or far, and of course he certainly appreciated good TV or a movie. Family and any activity that involved them was his primary focus. Whether it was with the Ohio family, up north family or here at home Mike was in. Among his greatest joys was taking pictures and filming his children and grandchildren's school and sporting events. He will be dearly missed by all!
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 14, 2024 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Union Lake Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 1233 Union Lake Road in White Lake.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions suggested to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in Memory of Mike.
