His role as a grandfather to Melissa and Krystal Hertlein was one he cherished deeply, always ready with a warm hug or a word of encouragement.

A man of simple pleasures, Ray enjoyed playing cards with friends and family, with Euchre being his game of choice. His love for sports was unwavering, and he was a loyal fan of the Detroit Tigers and the Lions, rarely missing a game.
