Oh where do I start?.............Growing up this man was my second father. I would some times see him more then my own parents. Growing up with Christine and Kathleen was awsome. They were my sisters! I remember Rex driving  Kathleen and I around and us in the back of the subburban hanging out the windows, and the MANY boat rides that we went on through out the summers!!! Christine and Kathleen I can only imagine what you are going through and I am extremely sorry that my family could not be there for you in your time of need. If we would of known we would of been there without a doubt! Rex will be truly missed!!!!  Love you guys, Kimberly Rogers

Dear Christine and Kathleen, there are nothing but fond memories I hold dear towards my friendship with your dad. 

He was a breath of fresh air with his honesty and openness, no matter the topic.  Your dad was a man of integrity and exemplified dedication to God, his job and raising his daughters.  

I enjoyed watching him think out loud about God and His existence, and serving Him.  Rex was a unique GENTLEman and truly an asset to all who were fortunate enough to be called his friend.

I last saw your dad at Orchard Grove Church where he was a greeter.  He had love in his eyes in what he was doing.  Your dad was a thinker first, by all means, then a doer, and he did it with deep commitment and with passion. We are all fortunate to have known him and we will see him again one glorious day, thanks to Christ and His love for us.

Stay close and trust in the Lord's decision. He will comfort you in many ways.

I once heard someone say, when speaking about his loss of a loved one: "he got the early flight home". That's fitting for your dad, the pilot.

Hopefully what I've shared will help to comfort you.

Our memories of Rex are at Billy's Tip 'N' Inn when Terry Stevenson played there and Rex and Debbie would be there to share their fun. Carol and I remember one Halloween Party that they were at and they were just awesome! May God bless the family and give them strength through this difficult time.

I knew Rex quite well, also at the Berz Airport when he worked there flying, cutting grass, and driving in the fuel truck. He was such a fun person to be around and his passion for flying was infectious. I'll never forget the day when Bruce Taylor flew in for a demo of the Helio Courier N5460E in July 1965 that had traffic lined up 2 miles in both directions on Maple Rd. I was sitting on the bench outside the office when he (Rex) came up and asked if I wanted one those, I answered I want two. We recently spoke of this demo that no one who was there will ever forget. I have spent the last 40 years pursuing this airplane and it's unusual performance and have dedicated my life to it's continuation..." Stephen Ruby (Oshkosh, WI)

I am so sorry to hear about Rex. I grew up around Rex at the Berz Airport in Troy, MI. I used to hang around and follow him when I was a kid. I did some of my first flight training with Rex as well. Rex worked for my father at the airport for many years and was well liked by everyone. He started out mowing grass and pumping gas and later earned his flight instructor rating and taught many people how to fly. I'm glad that I was able to know Rex and am saddend that we will not cross paths again. My thoughts and condolences to his family.
