Richard "Dick" Waters, 87, with full faith in the resurrection, left this world on March 2, 2017, after suffering a sudden stroke just a few days earlier. His devotion to his family and friends, and his firm belief in God were the guiding principles of his life and ultimately gave him great peace. Dick was born to the late Gertrude and Harold Waters, in Detroit, Michigan in 1930. A depression baby, Dick worked from an early age and ended up delivering flowers for a company that was bought by a fledging and unknown package delivery company called United Parcel Service. Near the end of his UPS career he moved to a home on Cedar Island Lake in White Lake, MI. He loved living on the lake, including entertaining, hosting weekly summer get-togethers with fellow UPSers, family and friends. Dick was a warm person who would help anyone in need, took his religion seriously, but could enjoy a Budweiser or two. He contributed to hundreds of causes with his generous and sympathetic nature--he often joked that wherever he moved he had to "build a Catholic church." He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.Dick is survived by his wife, Maril; his daughter Terri (husband Greg); his sons Mickey (wife Anne) and Matt (wife Sarah), and his grandchildren Crystal Dicosola, Richard (wife Katrina), Michael, Mary Beth (husband Albert III), Lizzy and Johnny; his great granddaughters Bella, Violet, Lexi, Rose and Lilly and grandson Albert IV. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Mary; his eldest daughter, Cynthia; his brothers Gerald and Bob; and his parents. A funeral Mass will be offered in Dick's memory at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in White Lake, Michigan, and he will be interred at the All Saints Cemetery following the Funeral Mass under the auspices of the United States Army. Our close family friend, Reverend Tom Meagher, will offer the holy Mass.
