Robert John Gollinger

Robert J. Gollinger, age 72, of Commerce Township, passed away December 7, 2020. Beloved husband of Susanne. Loving father of Kurt (Kay) Gollinger, Kristina (Lee) Gollinger-Woolfolk and Kenneth (Anna) Gollinger. Proud grandfather of Felix, Paige, Aiden, Fiona, Ahren, Mia and Madeleine. Dear brother of Donald, Raymond and Patricia. Robert was preceded in passing by his parents: Donald and Alice; and his sister: Linda.

Bob was a proud, combat-wounded veteran of the United States Marine Corps. After completing his tour of duty in Vietnam, he was assigned to Embassy duty in Serbia, where he met his bride of 50 years, Susi. Bob also spent time serving his community as a volunteer firefighter. He was devoted to his family and to his country and would do anything he could for the people he cared about. As an avid sportsman, Bob taught his kids to hunt and fish and truly appreciate the outdoors; his family will cherish the countless memories of time spent on his boat(s), anchored at the sandbar. He also loved to cook, always trying new recipes, and experimenting with a variety of kitchen gadgets. His passing will leave a giant void in all our lives, but his spirit will live on inside each of us for eternity. He will be missed dearly. Semper Fi Bobby/Dad/Opa…

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Operation Homefront, an organization whose mission is to build strong, stable, and secure military families so they can thrive - not simply struggle to get by - in the communities they have worked so hard to protect.
