Robert R. Perry, affectionately known as "Bob", “Papa”, and “G-Papa” to his friends and family, passed away on February 17, 2026, at the age of 67. Born on May 6, 1958, in Detroit, Michigan, Bob was a man whose laughter and handiwork left an indelible mark on the hearts of those around him. He took his final breath surrounded by the love of his family at his home in White Lake, Michigan.
Bob's journey through life was one of commitment and joy, particularly evident in his loving marriage to Tricia nee Swart. The couple exchanged vows on June 26, 1976, at The Episcopal Church of Advent in Keego Harbor, Michigan, and celebrated an impressive fifty years together. Their partnership bore fruit in the form of their three children: Chris (Kelly) Perry, Cori (Bryan) Kuder, and Chad (Amber) Perry. Bob was a devoted father who instilled in his children the values of hard work and the importance of family.
His role as "Papa" to Sommer (Avery) Scott, Chris M. (Brystal) Perry, Christopher R. Perry, Joshua Kuder, Olivia Kuder, Kar-Mell Perry, Brayden Perry, and Stella Perry, as well as "G-Papa" to Colten Scott, Camden Perry, Hudson Perry, Ellie Perry, and Weston Perry, was one that he cherished deeply. Bob's playful spirit and loving sarcasm brought endless joy to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, leaving them with memories to treasure forever.
Bob's siblings—Susan (Gary) Kemper, Pam (Tony) Ryan, Moe (Tim) King, Mike (Michele) Perry, and Kristin Synowiec knew him as a brother who was always ready with a helping hand or a humorous quip. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Gloria Perry, yet his legacy of love and laughter continues through his family.
A proud member of Local 58 IBEW, Bob worked as an automatic door technician, a career that showcased his technical skills and problem-solving abilities. His work was more than a job; it was a reflection of his dedication to craftsmanship and service.
Bob's passions extended beyond his professional life. His prized Jeep CJ-7, which he meticulously created with AMC performance standards, was a testament to his mechanical ingenuity. The vehicle was his companion on countless adventures through the trails and woods, a symbol of his love for exploration and the outdoors. Camping trips and journeys in his motor home, especially to the family cottage in St. Helen, Michigan, were among his favorite pastimes.
Music was another of Bob's loves, with country tunes, classic rock anthems, and the songs of Lynyrd Skynyrd often providing the soundtrack to his life. He was also the neighborhood's go-to bicycle repairman, always ready to fix a chain or replace a tire, ensuring that all the kids had a safe and functional ride.
Bob's presence was a gift to his community, his friends, and most of all, his family. He was a man who lived his life with a loving stubbornness and a wit that could light up any room. He often parted ways with a heartfelt "be careful, drive safe," a simple phrase that carried the weight of his love and care.
Today, Bob leaves behind not only his immediate family but also his beloved Labrador retrievers, Lilly and Lucy, and a host of other loving family members and friends. His was a life well-lived, full of laughter, love, and the occasional stubborn moment—all of which made Bob the remarkable man we will forever remember.
Robert R. Perry's memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories and the laughter he shared, the projects he completed, and the lives he touched. He was a loving husband, a funny and caring father, a handy Papa, and a treasured friend. His absence will be felt deeply, but his legacy will undoubtedly continue to inspire and guide us.
