Remembering a wonderful, kind, welcoming spirit.
Vicki Lee Sneath Lawrence
1952 - 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Vicki, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, who left us peacefully in the early morning February 10,2025 at the age of 72.
Vicki was born on August 31 1952, in Detroit Michigan. She was the cherished daughter of the late Margaret Turnbull Sneath and Albert T Sneath. Vicki was one of six siblings, Jim Sneath (Cathy), Albert Sneath (Vickey), Larry Sneath (Lisa) Lori Koziara (Jeff) and Margi Brandemihl (Jerry). Growing up, Vicki thrived amidst a nurturing, adventurous family and neighborhood. Block parties, family camping trips, Brownie troop activities influenced her developing engaging confident manner. Vicki was diagnosed a Type 1 Diabetic at the age of 8. Circa 1960 this was a terrible affliction. The broader family (Turnbull and Sneath Clans) neighbors and close friends met this challenge. Vicki adaptively pushed forward with a confident spirit and support. She earned a High School Varsity Letter in synchronized swimming, exemplifying her determination and resolve to live and thrive despite her diabetic challenges. While in high school Vicki leveraged her acquired typing skill and went to work alongside her mother at a data entry service. This work experience coupled with additional technical Data Entry / Computer operations schooling lead to a flourishing career in Data Computer Operations at Cadillac Gage, where she worked for 17 years. In 1995 she returned to the workforce, leveraging her previous experience, working as an administrative assistant at the Northville Public School Board Office, and retired in 2012. In 1979 she made the chance acquaintance of a fellow 1970 high school classmate, Andy Lawrence. She and Andy married in 1981 and gave birth to their only son Adam in May 1984. Her family also grew to include mother-in-law Ann Lawrence, father-in-law Carl Lawrence, two sisters-in-law Jan Gunthner (Rick) and Carol Cottrell (Randy) and brother-in-law Gregg Lawrence. Family gatherings for birthdays and holidays, weekends up north, camping, pool parties, golf in leagues and with family and friends, cards, games, bowling, adventure trips remained the norm. The “Family” grew in numbers and remains “King”. It is how we roll. Michigan, Tenn, West Virginia, Alabama, Massachusetts, South Carolina, and Florida. Vicki was diagnosed with Chromophobe Renal Cell Carcinoma in spring of 2022. She approached this with the same determination and confidence as with her Diabetes; one Day at a time. She said to me, “Perhaps I will be Patient Zero who beats it!” In the last weeks, with grace and determination, Vicki redirected her focus toward all of us with a concern for our well-being upon her passing. She once again demonstrated uncommon notable strength and faith. May she rest in peace, and her unique spirit inspire us all. The family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers, If you are so inclined.
