William Thomas Jefferson, age 74, of Commerce Township, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2022, at his home. Left to cherish his memory are his significant other, Mary Sanders; his sister, Donna Fryman; his brother, Don (Denise) Jefferson; his four nieces and nephews: Ben (Caitlin) Fryman, Dan Fryman, Philip (Taylor) Jefferson, and Nicole (Jim) Matosky; special cousins: Gina Insko, and Royce (Helen) Insko; and many other loving cousins and close friends.
Tom was born October 27, 1948, in Maysville, Kentucky, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Tom and Mildred (Mofford) Jefferson. Tom graduated from Morehead State University in Kentucky with a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, and eventually, his career at Ford Motor Company brought him to Michigan. After several years working as a manager at Ford, Tom ventured into sales, where he began selling software and eventually water treatment solutions. After many years, Tom retired to enjoy more time with his family.
Tom was very passionate about staying active, and as such, he was a very talented tennis and golf player. Tom also loved to go for runs whenever he could. He also loved to travel; some of his fondest memories were made on trips to Mexico, Europe, and especially back home to Kentucky to visit his family. Tom was a wonderful man who will be greatly missed.
A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at the Union Lake Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 1233 Union Lake Road, White Lake, Michigan 48386. Tom's family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and again on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. A burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may consider memorial contributions in Tom’s name to the American Cancer Society, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
