Betty Brookover

Brookover, Betty Lou (Hyden), passed away November 27, 2011. Betty was born July 22, 1924 in Corsicana, Texas to Victor and Maude Hyden. Shortly after birth, the family moved and resided in Eureka, Kansas. Betty graduated from Eureka High School, then became a wartime bride, marrying John C. Brookover of Eureka, March 18, 1944. Four children evolved from this union: James Brookover of El Paso, TX, Debra Weiler of Tampa. FL, Susan Berriman of Richmond Hills, GA and David Brookover of Jackson, WY. In the mid 60’s John and Betty moved to Wichita, where John worked for Wichita State University and Betty worked and retired from Boulevard State Bank, after retirement she enjoyed working part-time for Hillside Funeral Home. Betty enjoyed attending and fellowship with the University Congregational Church. She was blessed and thoroughly enjoyed all of her grandchildren and the great-grandchildren, plus the many, many friends over her total lifespan. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Victor Hyden Jr., sister Shirley Schult and sister Ruth Hyden. Family would prefer memorial donations towards The Lord’s Diner. Memorial Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday November 30, 2011 at the Hillside Funeral Home West. Burial will be at 1:30 PM Wednesday November 30, 2011 at the Greenwood Cemetery in Eureka.
