Charmaine Shonk

A private family graveside service for R. Charmaine Shonk, 87, who passed away early Saturday morning, January 24, 2026 at NMC Health in Newton will be Thursday, January 29, 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Lehigh Township Cemetery, Lehigh, KS.

Charmaine was born September 28, 1938 to Herbert and Verona (Grothe) Nuss in Hillsboro, KS. She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1956, and married Dean Miller on June 2, 1957 in Hillsboro. Dean and Charmaine had two daughters, Shawn and Jenell.

In April of 1981, Charmaine married Carroll Shonk in Wichita. From that union she acquired three step-children, Debbie (Shonk) Davis, Russell Shonk, and Brian Shonk.

For the past two years, she resided at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro.

Survivors include daughter Shawn and husband Don Voth, of Marion, and step-daughter Debbie Davis of Wichita; four grandchildren - Tara Barnett of Marion, Randi Priest of Manhattan, Chelsea Gardner of Hillsboro, and Bret Voth of Marion; nine great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Carroll Shonk, daughter Jenell Miller, and stepsons Brian Shonk and Russell Shonk.

Her family was of great importance to her and she will be greatly missed.
