

Edwards, George F. “EatEmUp”, age 87, died Saturday, July 11, 2015. George was born November 5, 1927 in Lawrence, the son of Clifton D. and Carolina K. (Brokeman) Edwards. He served his country in the US Army from April of 1946 to May of 1952, serving 30 months as a cook/baker in Frankfurt, Germany. George retired from Dolese Brothers after 43 years as a Batch Plant Operator. He also spent 11 years with Stanley Elementary in the Foster Care Program helping children in the library. George is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vivian (Miller); daughter, Ellen Elaine Edwards Johnson; son, George F. Edwards II; sisters, Peggy Moore and Esther Burton; grandson, Tusten R. Edwards; a set of twin grandsons; and one great granddaughter. Survivors include: children, Doyle (Sheryl) Edwards, Randy (Pamela) Edwards, Bradley (Jean Sorrel) Edwards, Scott (Sydney) Frances, Pamela (David) Miller, all of Wichita; daughter-in-law, Sally Edwards, of Haysville; sister, Mildred (Charles) Hall, of Edinburg, VA; 31 grandchildren; and 37 great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 Tuesday, with the family present at Hillside Funeral Home, 2929 W. 13th, Wichita. Funeral service 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Mt. Vernon Church of God, 3115 E. Mt. Vernon, Wichita; burial will follow in Resthaven Garden of the Lord’s Prayer. A memorial has been established with Catholic Charities Grandparents Foster Program in memory of George F.
