Louise Oler, 91, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away in the early morning hours of Tuesday, August 19th. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill. Married for 64 years, they began their journey together in Centerton, AR, but soon moved to Colorado where Bill was in basic training. After Bill was deployed to Korea, Louise returned to Centerton and finished high school. Life took them to Tulsa, OK, Idaho Falls, ID, and finally to Wichita, KS in 1967.
Although Louise excelled at taking care of her home and was an excellent gardener, she soon became interested in antiques and collectibles. Beginning in the middle 70’s, she worked at estate sales and soon had her own business. Self taught, she became something of an expert on antique dishes and collectibles. She had antique booths at the Peddler’s Mall in Claremore, Ok., along with Shopkeepers and Paramount Antiques in Wichita. Well into her 80’s, she specialized in vintage fabrics. Quilters from all over the state visited her booth to find that special piece to add to their quilts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Olen and Hope Begley and her brother Russell Begley.
She is survived by her son Bart Oler of Wichita; Deborah (Dennis) Andra of Land O Lakes, FL; sisters-in-law, Shirley Begley of Dallas, TX, Dainese Wasson of Sevierville, TN; and Wanda Wheaton of Claremore, OK. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Jason Andra, Jennifer Jerkins, and Jessica Neeson all from Florida, Brock Oler from Florida, and Trey Oler from Kansas; along with five great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11800 West US Highway 54, Wichita, KS 67209. Following the service, refreshments will be served at Hillside Funeral Home, 2929 West 13th Street North in Wichita.
