

Lova L. (Merritt) Brittain age 87 passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024. She was born and raised in Enid, OK and graduated from Enid High School and Enid Business College. She married Clarence W. Brittain in 1955 and they moved to Wichita, Kansas in 1956. They were divorced several years ago but had remained friends until his death in 2010. Lova was employed by Wichita Public Schools for 21 years, working in Central Administration offices. She retired in 2001.
Lova was preceded in death by her parents – Wade and Mable (Hicks) Merritt; granddaughter, LeeAnna Brittain; and brother, Wayne Merritt.
She is survived by one daughter, Shara Brittain Keeny; and four sons, Barry (Tammy), Bruce (Mary) of Andover, Gary (Roslyn) of Lenexa, and Steve (Joanna) of Valley Center. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, Sabita Keeny (Charlie), Ethan (Courtney) Brittain, Jeremy Brittain, Michael (Kheley) Brittain, Janice (Garrett) Fitzmier, Hanna Brittain, Evan Brittain, Kelsea (Jonas) Street, Lauren (Grant) Merrill, Logan (Theresa) Brittain, Erica (Dave) Warren, Halle Brittain, Jacob (Kassidy) Brittain, Adam Brittain, Ashley (Matthew) Hirsch, Amy (Matthew) Roberts; 25 great-grandchildren, Daisy, Marcell, Liyah, Niyah, Riyah, Gunner, Ruby Trinity, Dixie, Molly, Abbi Emma, Isabelle, Laina, Ivaleigh, Alora, Mia, Ryan, Austin, Logan, Montana, Kamri, Kaylee, Sean, Courtney (Joey); and sister-in-law, Katy Merritt of Ardmore, OK, nephew, Alan Merritt (Margarida) of San Francisco, CA and niece, Dian Stewart of Norman, OK. She is also survived by a large extended family and many dear friends.
Visitation will be held from 8-10 a.m., Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Central Community Church located at 6100 W. Maple St., Wichita, KS 67209. The funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the same location. Burial will immediately follow at Kechi Cemetery, located at 6523 N. Hillside Avenue, Park City, Kansas 67219.
