Patty was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She drove a school bus for much of her life and formed great relationships with all of the kids she encountered. Patty loved to sing in church. Music was a big part of her life as she also sang with her siblings in a gospel band called the Huffman Band. They would travel to other churches and share fellowship through music.
She loved spending time with her grandkids most of all. Taking them on vacations and having them join her on stage for a song with her in church was something she always enjoyed. She cherished her time with her daughter Melissa. Melissa was her only child, and always brought her great joy.
She also liked to garden, and to sew. She enjoyed cooking, and taking old recipes to make into her own cookbooks. She always loved the holidays, especially Christmas and Thanksgiving. Planning family get togethers during those times was something she always looked forward to.
Terry and Patty traveled as often as they could and enjoyed trips to Colorado and the Gulf of Mexico. She also liked doing her ancestry and seeing how far her family tree spread.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Patty is survived by her loving husband, Terry Stewart; daughter, Melissa (Travis) Gerlach; grandchildren, Kelsey, Bryant and Treyton Day, Ella, Addison and Natalie Gerlach; sister, Gayle (Mel) Getsay; brothers, Bob (Marie) Huffman, and Ed (Kay) Huffman; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will take place at Rolling Hills Community Church, located at 8605 W. Maple St., Wichita, KS 67209 on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 1:00pm.
