Courtland L. Traver, Jr., passed away on March 30, 2014. He was born on Sept. 20, 1935 in New Haven, CT. He is survived by his wife, Jerri Traver; his sister, Linda Anderson of Washington, DC; a son, Courtland L. Traver, III; two daughters, Amy Traver Nelson and Kimberly Anne Traver; two stepsons, Dennis M. Nease and Robert D. Nease; as well as seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Upon graduating from the University of Connecticut, he entered the Naval Aviation School in Pensacola, FL and flew planes and helicopters off Aircraft Carriers. He later entered the University of Georgetown in Washington, D.C. to study law. While in law school, he flew the police helicopter in D.C. He later gave up flying to practice law full time. He was a partner at McGuire Woods until his retirement in 2000, when he and Jerri moved to Williamsburg, VA. He then taught law for two years at the College of William & Mary.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 4 at the Williamsburg Community Chapel, 3899 John Tyler Hwy, Williamsburg, VA.
