Jerry Dowl Rawls, age 86, of Beckley, passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Bowers Hospice House. Born on September 5, 1934 in Andalusia, AL, he was the son of the late Crandell H. Rawls and Hattie Imagene Harris Rawls.
Mr. Rawls was a retired United States Navy Veteran having severed over 20 years. While stationed in the United States Navy, he was an electrician on a submarine. He then later retired as an electrician for the coal mines. Mr. Rawls was loved by everyone and will be missed by all that knew and loved him. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend who was always willing to help someone.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters, Pamela Liszka and Sherry Cooper; and his brother, Joe Bob Rawls. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 55 years, Jewell Adkins Rawls; his daughter, Tina Buckland and her husband, Jason; son-in-law, Steve Cooper and his wife, Leigh; his grandchildren, Sheena Hatcher and her husband, Kevin, Violet Cole, Ciarra Cole, Justin Cooper and Delaney Buckland; great-grandson, Dylan Thompson; sister-in-law, Joyceline; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Pastor Roger E. Pauley officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be held in the Peace Garden of Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
In accordance with the current CDC guidelines, the family and the staff of Blue Ridge Funeral Home ask that those who attend the services wear proper facial coverings and practice social distancing at all times.
