CMSgt. Edward Thomas Boyd, 98, of Winter Springs, Florida passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021. He joins his wife, Thelma, the love of his life, married 72 years, in heaven. He was born in Yonkers, New York on December 11, 1922. After marrying Thelma, he joined the Army Corp of Engineers and built the Burma Road. After WWII, he re-enlisted and joined the US Army to work in logistics. He transferred to the Army Air Corp to work in communications, which later became the US Air Force. He retired from the US Air Force in 1966. His service included WWII, Korean, and Viet Nam Wars.
After retiring from the US Air Force, the family moved to Westwood, Bergen County, New Jersey. They moved to Dunedin, Florida, in 1972, to reside and play golf. There he enjoyed fishing, boating, making stain glass, teaching computer classes and running a computer club.
He is survived by his four daughters and son, Lynn and her husband Rick Bresnen, Maggie and husband Gary McDonald, Mamie Boyd, and Dee Dee Boyd, Edward L. Boyd, and his wife Mary, 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be said for him on Tuesday June 8th 2021 9:30am at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, 575 Tuskawilla Road, Winter Springs, followed by full Military Honors given at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims, Florida at 12:30pm.
